I’m a Freshman with no experience in Engineering, is there still a way I can participate in the club?

Of course! Our projects and workshops are the perfect place for people with any skill level to improve and get hands on experience. Not only that but you can also take advantage of our Office Hours to talk with some of our officers to gain some wisdom on being in the major, navigating internships, and more. How do I pay for the membership fee?

To pay online just fill out the form in the membership tab and scroll ALL THE WAY down to the bottom of the page to where it says pay now. There you can use paypal or a credit card to pay for memberships. If you wan to pay cash, you can pay in-person during our General Body Meetings or during our Office Hours.

What are your office hours?

Currently, we do not have office hours for the summer. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email at ucfasme@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP!

I am not able to commit to the large scale projects like SDC and IAM3D, are there still opportunities to commit to get hands-on experience?

Absolutely! Not only do we host those large scale competition based projects, but we also host smaller research or competition based projects ranging from Sumo Bots to 3D Printed Bridges. These are much more flexible and are often very straightfoward with their process making them great for beginners. You could even get a bunch of your friends to form a team or just jumo in solo and we’ll form the teams.

What can I expect from a General Body Meeting?

So our general body meetings are a great way to get started if your interested in our club! There we will announce any new projects, tours, socials, and more. We often also have industry guests to come to the meetings to present more information about their company and what they do. We’ve had guests from NASA, Universal Creative, Siemens, L3Harris, and that’s just the very tip of the iceberg. Every now and then we also host a fun mystery design for all the members to get creative and build different things. Last but not least, we always offer free pizza for everyone who comes out to the GBM!

Why should I join ASME?

Why not! There are plenty of ways to participate in this organization and you don’t even have to be an engineering major. We offer a wide variety of projects, workshops, and more to get hands on experience while also hosting industry speakers, tours, and more to learn about the engineering field. We also like to have some fun here with plenty of socials like Bowling nights, Game nights, Wakeboarding, and more to take some time off from this rigorous major. At the end of the day, we are very flexible and accept all majors to come and see what all the fun is about!
